As the weather gets colder and the days grow shorter, the warmth of our wonderful school family continues to shine brightly here at Read St John’s. November has been full of fun, excitement, and lots of proud moments for our children.
“Let your light shine before others.” – Matthew 5:16
We’ve certainly seen lots of shining lights this month!
Burnley FC Visit Year 6
Year 6 had an amazing time when Burnley FC came to visit! The children loved meeting the players and hearing about their journeys in sport. Even though it was chilly outside, the buzz in the hall was definitely not!
Remembrance Service at the Cricket Club
Our school community joined together at the cricket club to mark Remembrance Day. The children were so respectful, showing real understanding about why we remember. It was a thoughtful and special moment for everyone.
Music Performance Showcase
What a lovely evening! Our pupils shared their musical talents with family and friends, and their confidence and joy lit up the whole room. It was wonderful to see how much they’ve grown.
Ribble Valley Sportshall Athletics
Some of our Year 4 children took part in the Ribble Valley Sportshall Athletics at Oakhill School. They were brilliant—full of effort, smiles, and team spirit. We’re so proud of them!
Year 5 Worship Warriors at Pupil Conference
Two of our Year 5 Worship Warriors attended a conference about equity, diversity, and justice. They came back full of ideas about how we can continue to show kindness, fairness, and God’s love in our school.
SSPA Burnley’s Gotta Dance
What a show! Our pupils took to the stage at Gotta Dance and absolutely shone. Their energy, enthusiasm, and hard work really paid off. A huge well done to all our dancers!
Multi-Faith Week
We enjoyed learning about different faiths and cultures during Multi-Faith Week. The children took part in activities that helped them understand and appreciate the beliefs of others—something that fits beautifully with our Christian values.
Year 5 Maths Competition
Well done to our Year 5 pupils who took part in a Maths competition! They showed fantastic teamwork and problem-solving skills. We loved seeing how proud they were of themselves.
Thank You for Parents’ Evening
A big thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to Parents’ Evening. It’s always lovely to chat, share successes, and celebrate how well the children are doing.
Book Fair Success
Thank you to everyone who popped in to our Book Fair! We raised £216.31, which will help us buy even more wonderful books for our school
As we say goodbye to November and get ready for the festive fun ahead, we want to say a big thank you to all our staff, pupils, and families for making Read St John’s such a loving, joyful, faith-filled place.
Stay warm, stay safe, and keep shining God’s light wherever you go.
