The Governing Body
The Governing Board of Read St John’s CE Primary School consists of 14 governors, including the Headteacher. Each governor brings their own skills, experience and perspective to the role and may serve on more than one committee. The work of these committees plays an important part in informing the decisions and guiding the work of the Full Governing Board.
We do not have any associate members, meaning all governors have voting rights on the Full Governing Board and on any committees of which they are members.
Our Chair of Governors, Martin Roberts, leads the Full Governing Board, supported by our Vice Chair, Clive Bennett. The Board meets once each term to discuss key priorities, review progress and make strategic decisions in the best interests of the school and its pupils.
As school governors, we volunteer our time and bring a wealth of experience from our professional and personal lives. Working in partnership with the Headteacher, we provide strategic oversight, support and challenge to help drive school improvement. Our shared aim is to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education and the very best care, enabling all pupils, whatever their abilities or needs, to flourish and achieve their full potential.
The Governing Body uses The Local Authority Governor Services to clerk meetings and provide advice. They are contactable on 01254 220904.
