Wider Curriculum
Dear Parents/Carers,
My name is Mrs.Taylor. I am very proud of our choir and the many events they have participated in over the years. This year we are very excited to be taking part in the Let’s Go Sing project again. The final concert will be at King George’s Hall in Blackburn in March. Last year the Let’s Go Sing concert was at Ewood Park which was great fun and an exciting and rewarding experience for all.
For the first time this year we will be taking part in a Christmas Choir Competition organised by John Halstead from Altham. The competition will be at the beginning of December at St. Christopher’s High School. We are hoping that this will be another rewarding and enjoyable experience.
The choir have a close relationship with our church and the local community and especially enjoy our Christmas carol services, visits and activities. Even our fund raising have been great fun and supported by many groups of Read community.
We look forward to another musical and memorable year.
As always, many thanks to all our parents who support and encourage our wonderful school choir.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Taylor
We have a great outdoor space at school which we have designated as our Forest School area.
There are many benefits of children working in the Forest School area and we are passionate about this being part of our school curriculum. As a school we are looking to develop this area …watch this space!
When we spend time in this area of school the children can be seen with smiles, rosy cheeks, sparkling eyes developing their curiosity, bravery, creative thinking, exploration and ability to assess their own risks, work cooperatively and solve problems in the fresh air.
Our School Council has been chosen and are all eager and excited for our School year with lots of fantastic ideas to make our School a better place. We enjoy raising money whilst having fun. We have also designed a child friendly safeguarding policy, to help keep children safe in school. We continue to collect spectacles for Vision Aid and books for the Air Ambulance.

Let me introduce you to our school pet- “Mi’shell” or “Shelly” she is our school tortoise.
She lives in a large vivarium in our foyer area and we are very grateful to the Szostak family for generously donating her to school.
The children and staff enjoy finding her food and giving her daily baths.
