PSHE
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education.
It is a school curriculum subject which focuses on developing the knowledge, skills and attributes to keep children healthy and safe and prepare them for life and work. Our PSHE education programme promotes our school ethos, we believe that PSHE should enable children to become healthier, more independent and more responsible members of society. We encourage our children to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. In so doing, we help develop their sense of self-worth. Through Citizenship the pupils find out about the main political and social institutions that affect their lives and about their responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and members of communities. We provide opportunities for the children to discuss and learn about: drug education, financial education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and the importance of physical activity and diet for a healthy lifestyle.
Parental Consultation
Due to the changes being made to the PSHE curriculum, we sent out a letter in Autumn 2020 to all parents to notify them of these changes. We also sent them a draft version of our new policy and curriculum map. This outlined what we were planning to teach and in what year group the teaching would take place. After consulting with parents and looking at the feedback we received we then shared this with our Governors in the Spring term to allow us to finalise our policy and curriculum which you can view on the links below.
