As we reach the end of the Summer 1 half term, I would like to say how incredibly proud we are of our Year 6 children. They were fantastic during their recent SATs tests — absolutely amazing throughout the week and always trying their very best. Their positive attitude, resilience and determination were wonderful to see.
Following SATs week, the children enjoyed their residential trip to Winmarleigh, where they had an amazing time taking part in activities such as the giant swing, disco, raft building, the leap of faith and zip wire, to name just a few. It was a brilliant experience for everyone involved and a great way to end the half term together.
We also took a group of cricketers to play at Stonyhurst College. It was a fantastic experience for the children, and the team were superb representatives of our school both on and off the field.
Our Maths Challenge finalists also had the opportunity to travel to Burnley Football Club to take part in the final. They were amazing and it really showed what super mathematicians we have in our school. We were extremely proud of the way they approached the challenge and represented the school so well.
In addition, Street Smart visited school to talk to the children about keeping safe in the car. The children listened carefully and gained valuable information about road and car safety.
Year 5 have also continued to enjoy their Mini Police sessions this half term. They have taken part in a range of exciting and informative activities, including learning about safe driving, fingerprinting, setting up a crime scene and bagging evidence. A tactical police officer also visited to talk to the children about his role in arresting people and working within the police force. The children have also learnt valuable first aid skills, including CPR and how to place someone in the recovery position.
Please also take a look at the upcoming dates for next half term. The weeks are passing so quickly and it will soon be the end of another school year.
Thank you for your continued support this half term. We hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable break.
